Floorball Shafts

Guide: Which floorball shaft should I choose? (Read more here)

Choosing the right floorball shaft is just as important as finding the right blade. The shaft directly affects your shooting power, ball control, and overall feel of the game. With the right combination of flex, length, and grip, you can build a stick that perfectly matches your playing style and body.

Guide: What flex should I choose for my floorball stick?

Flex – the most important characteristic of the shaft

Flex indicates how much the shaft bends when you shoot or perform other movements. The value is measured in numbers, where a lower value means a stiffer shaft, while a higher value means a softer and more flexible shaft.

A stiff shaft (low flex) provides powerful, direct shots but requires more strength to handle. A softer shaft (high flex) helps generate more speed on the ball with less force, but may result in slightly reduced shot precision.

For most players, a flex between 29–32 works well. Strong forwards often choose a lower flex (26–29) for maximum shooting power, while technical players and younger athletes benefit from a higher flex (32–36). Here you can find our guide to choosing the right flex for you.

Choose the right shaft length

Choosing the right shaft length is crucial for your feel and technique. As a general rule, the shaft should reach up to your navel when standing upright with your shoes on.

Taller players (over 180 cm) usually choose shafts between 100–103 cm, while shorter players (under 170 cm) often prefer 92–96 cm.

Your position also plays a role. Forwards may prefer slightly shorter shafts for better control in close situations, while defenders often choose longer shafts for increased reach.

Grip and material

The grip shape affects how the shaft feels in your hands. Round grips provide a natural feel and are popular among most players, while oval grips offer better control and reduce the risk of the shaft twisting during intense play.

When it comes to materials, carbon fiber is the most common choice for premium shafts. It provides an optimal combination of strength, low weight, and excellent feel. Composite materials are often used in more affordable shafts and offer good durability for recreational players and beginners.
